11/18/2023 0 Comments Smith and wesson 9mm luger reviewsIt is a fact that more Americans than ever are carrying handguns for self-defense, and the market has adjusted accordingly. The best sellers have been compact striker-fired semiautos or those with an internal hammer chambered in 9mm. The bright spot for business has been the concealable handgun market. As always, the gun can only be as good as the person shooting it, so remember to practice with whatever you get. These have been uncertain times for the firearms industry with sales slumping since the 2016 election of President Donald Trump. This is a great first pistol to own, and for the price it's hard to beat. At 5-10 yrds I'm shooting 4-5" groupings and 10-15 yrds I only have a couple outside the 6" grouping, but it's as accurate as I can be. The sights are a good, but I'm looking into replacing them with the M&P iron sights ($15) because they just look better to me. It's extremely lightweight and the grip fits really well in the hand (I have med-large sized hands). I wouldn't go with the tigger kit because to me it's a self defense pistol, not a pistol you would use for strictly paper targets and plinking. It doesn't seem to be loosening up, but if you want a competition trigger apex sells some kits. I personally like the long DA trigger pull because I'm a revolver guy, and since it has no mechanical/external safety the heavy trigger works well. I went to the range and put 100 rds through it and it shoots great. 40 because ammo is more available, but the only place that had it was 3 hours away and I wasn't looking to wait any longer (glad I didn't). After months of drooling and saving up I finally "bit the bullet" and got the SD9VE about a week ago. Yes it's a glock clone and yes it has a long heavy trigger pull. I did a lot of research on the SD series and fell in love with the gun. Post seems a bit old, but I thought I'd chime in. They're not a Glock 23 or Ruger LCP by any means, but they're comfortable for me (6'2" 240) to carry around IWB.Īs soon as I can find one at my LGS, I'm buying myself one. I've borrowed and rented both SD9s and SD40s and loved them for a smallish carry gun. Really, the trigger is the only thing that ever get any flak. Many, many people have done SD series reviews and I have yet to see one person that absolutely hated the gun. Sure, the frame may feel flimsy, but it's not going to fall apart on you or anything. There are zero tooling marks present and everything feels solid and well-made. All I know is that the gun is "cheap in all the right places" to quote a review. What exactly is enhanced? I'm not really sure, and apparently neither are most other people. The VE stands for "value enhanced" according to S& W. After that, I think it's probably the best CC gun in its price range. Not to worry though, a cheap and easy fix is to get an Apex trigger kit and swap the triggers out. The trigger is just garbage, that's all there is too it. The sigmas were plagued with trigger problems and those problems carried over into the SD platform. The SD ("self defense") series is an updated version of S& W's older Sigma series (basically a Glock copy attempt). I seen some favorable reviews of the SD9VE and SD40VE and was wondering what is your opinion on it? I heard the trigger pull is heavy on it, I am uneducated on the mechanics of firearms will it lighten from enough use and/or with practice will I develop greater strength in my index finger? People often were advocating saving up or buying a used ruger, glock, sig, or S&W but I found S&W sells a glock style entry level semi auto for self defense. I think with enough experience at the range I can use a semi as well as a double action revolver in a time of need and make sure I am and it is ready at that time. I personally shoot better using a semi auto from my limited experience but it might have been the difference in barrel lengths of my beretta 92fs and my friends taurus 85. I was thinking about getting entry level CC guns for self defense thinking double actions revolvers where the way to go in regards to ease of use in a stressful situation, but I was looking also at some semi autos. This question was getting no love over at /r/guns, I was thinking your guys would be a bit more informative and help a novice out.
